Help Sound the Alarm!
Save lives and prevent injury by being a member of the Home Fire Campaign Team. Specific roles could vary, including being a member of home visit teams to install smoke alarms and educate residents, conduct neighborhood canvassing, facilitate planning events and more according to local program needs.
Responsibilities:
- Support the annual preparedness goals by participating in meetings, projects and local activities
- Execute assigned projects
- Serve clients and/or support Red Cross team members in providing residents with free smoke alarm installation and fire safety education
- Complete tasks to help implement preparedness activities
- Attend meeting with community partners to build relationships
- Help conduct program inventory
- Help with receiving supplies
- Assist at installation events
- Complete all necessary documentation
- Represent the American Red Cross in a professional manner at all times
- Follow all safety protocols
Qualifications:
- Ability to relate effectively with diverse groups and individuals
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to read, understand and review program guidelines and tools
- Ability to give and take instructions
- Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time
- Ability and willingness to learn and use Red Cross technology
- Basic computer skills
Training is provided at no cost. This position asks that you give 5-10 hours on a weekend once quarterly.
